Earlier this month, the Vancouver Aquarium’s cetacean research vessel (the ‘Skana’) and her crew were cruising along northern Vancouver Island when they spotted what appeared to be a hub of avian activity. Not only did they find the source of this frenzy- sandlance- but also some active minke whales!
Wild Whales is the home of the B.C. Cetacean Sightings Network, a conservation and research program of the Vancouver Aquarium, in partnership with Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO). We collect sightings of all cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises) and sea turtles from British Columbia and surrounding waters. Have you seen one? We'd like to know!
